Leaving Cape Corso, you will encounter the sweeter landscape of Nebbio : low hills, wide valleys, fruit plantations and, most of all, large vineyards, concentrated in the countryside aroundPatrimonio. The most appreciated wine of this renowned wine district isMuscat, but many other qualities of red, white and rosé are produced. A good idea may be a mini tour in one of the local farmhouses.
Leaving the road D80 and heading west on D81, you will reach in a few kilometres Saint-Florent,a lively tourist port, and a strategic base to reach the gorgeous beaches on the slopes of the Désert des Agriates.
The easiest way to reach the beaches is by sea, with one of the frequent ferries which connect Saint Florent with the beach of Lodo. From here, in half an hour walk, you’ll get to the beach ofSaleccia There are 2 paths, one straight on the sea and the other a little inside, but walking time is the same.
Obviously both beaches are very crowded during summer season, as well as the other pearl of Corsica: the beach of Ostriconi, opposite the Agriates, characterised by fine white sand, turquoise waters, a delightful view over the promontory ofCape Corsoand the harsh profile of the rocky desert on the background.
Those who have more time available and love doing promenades along the shore will certainly like the path which leads to the beach of Ostriconi from the town beach of Saint-Florent. A good water supply and a hat are always recommendable when walking under the sun. This path, in particular, is very long (more than 40 km!), but very easy and suitable for everybody. It is divided into three legs, with the possibility to stay overnight in the camping situated on the beach of Saleccia (for info ask the tourist office of Saint-Florent).
Free camping and camps outside the prescribed areas are absolutely forbidden: the area of the Agreates is in fact a protected natural site, and because of the high concentration of tourists on the beaches, the collaboration of each visitor is strictly necessary. Therefore, at the end of your beach day, remember to collect all your things and leave no trace of your passage.

West of the Désert des Agriateslies la Balagne, very beloved destination by national and international tourism, due to the sweet landscapes of the inland, the entertaining life on the shore and the rich cultural offer of its main village: Calvi.
Calviis a delightful village with a very large beach. Don’t miss a visit of the nearby promontory ofPunta della Revellata, which hides a gorgeous and quiet cove on the east side, with clean waters. The cove can only be reached with 4X4 or suitable vehicles. During all year Calvi hosts a high number of music and art festivals, and it remains a preferred destination for Easter holidays, due to the suggestive procession which takes place in the streets on Good Friday.
A pleasant way to move along the coast is with the little train which in summer connects Calvi withÎle-Rousse. This is another lovely village (founded by the national hero Pasquale Paoli), provided with a beach, a pleasant sea promenade and a charming citadel with tortuous streets.
There is also a covered market where to find some fresh products of the rich local agriculture.
If you wish to discover the olive trees and the characteristic villages inland, a vehicle is necessary, since the area is not served by buses, with the exception of the seasonal connection between Calvi and Calenzana.
Speloncatois possibly the finest village of the region of Balagne, with its stone houses overlooking the valleys. From here the view opens to the enchanting landscapes ofColle di Battaglia and the green forests of Tartagine-Melajaand Bonifato, where to find shelter from summer heat, for just a few hours or for a couple of days. Although situated far away, these places are part of the circuit of the GR20, so the area is provided with a few hotels and some gîtes d’étape where to stay overnight.
