Corsica Climate and weather

Fioritura in Corsica

As in many other islands on this side of the Tyrrhenian sea, climate in Corsica is Mediterranean, with dry hot summers and mild winters on the coasts, while the inland territories are subject to more rigid atmospheric conditions, and on the highest mountains snow can fall until late spring.

The rainiest period goes from November to January, with potential sporadic rainstorms and floods.

Generally Corsica doesn’t suffer from the chaotic tourism that we see in other Mediterranean summer resorts, and tourists tend to distribute more homogeneously on the coasts and in the main holiday destinations, with the only exception of Porto Vecchio, Ile-Rousse and Saint-Florent. Those who want to be sure to spend a holiday in complete relax should travel in late spring, when vegetation and mountain highs are in full bloom, or in late summer, when the sun starts illuminating landscapes with warm colors, and the water temperature still allows long swimming. In both periods the weather is sunny, but not too hot like in July and August, so consider this in case you are planning excursion activities on the island.
